FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The first installment of the 2014 real estate property tax bill is due on or before January 31st. Please read your tax bill to see if you pay to the county treasurer or to your local treasurer. For example, Town of Milton property owners pay the county treasurer while City of Milton property owners pay the city treasurer. City of Janesville property owners pay the county treasurer while Town of Janesville property owners pay the Town of Janesville treasurer.
For property owners who pay to the county treasurer, the county treasurer's office is located on the second floor in the Rock County Court House, 51 South Main Street, Janesville. The office is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. For taxpayers who pay to the county treasurer, there is an online option to pay by e-check for a $1 fee at our Tax Payment Options webpage.
If paying by mail, the mailing address is P.O. Box 1508, Janesville, WI, 53547. Due to the Madison outgoing mail processing center being moved to Milwaukee, please know there is at least an additional day delay in local mail being delivered by the U.S. Post Office. Payments mailed locally are sent to Milwaukee for processing one day, then sent to Madison for distribution the next day, to be delivered locally on the third day. Please also be aware of the earlier daily cut off times on local drop boxes as to when the mail is actually picked up by the local Post Office staff.
Are you retired or have children that left the nest and now you're looking for ways to stay busy?
Child Protective Services has a need for 1-2 people with good driving records and insurance who could transport children/youth to and from family visits or other appointments Monday-Friday.
Drivers would be paid an hourly stipend and drive county-owned vehicles. Appropriate car seats and training will be provided.
If you know of anyone who might be interested, please ask them to contact Delores Smith at 608-757-5263 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more information and an application.
The Council on Aging urgently needs volunteers for our Home Delivered Meal program. Please consider volunteering to help a homebound senior by bringing them a hot meal.
Help make someone's New Year a bright beginning by volunteering.
