Rock County Emergency Management coordinates
major emergencies, disaster response and recovery efforts in support
of the county and local governments. Through planning, training and
exercising we prepare response agencies, volunteer organizations,
the private sector and citizens to respond to and recover from
disasters. With these educational and planning efforts we hope to
provide and improve public safety to minimize the loss of lives and
property.

Outdoor Warning System

Activation of the Outdoor Warning Sirens:
-
A
steady tone of 3-5 minutes indicates to take cover a TORNADO
WARNING has been issued for Rock County or a sighting of a
funnel cloud has been reported.

Immediately
take shelter.
-
Tune
into your local radio stations.

Janesville - WCLO AM 1230 or WJVL FM 99.9

Please
do not call 911 to inquire about the siren. Your local
radio stations will be interrupted with the National Weather
Service broadcast.

There
is NO, "ALL CLEAR" signal.
Siren Testing:
-
The
Rock County outdoor warning siren system is tested the first
Wednesday of each month at 12:05 p.m. with a steady tone of 2
minutes.
-
Siren
testing begins in April and ends in October.
-
The
sirens are NOT tested when inclement weather is being
experienced within the county.
Reporting Non-working Sirens:
To
report any non-working sirens call Rock County Emergency Management
office at 758-8440 and give your location and telephone
number. On weekends please call the Rock County Communications
Center 757-2244.
