Rock County Council on Aging offers five evidence-based health and wellness classes for seniors. These classes cover a number of topics and are low or no cost. Many of the classes are offered several times this year; choose the session that fits your schedule best. Sign up today by calling (608) 757-5309 or (608) 757-5472, or enroll online below. STEPPING ON is a seven-week class that is proven to reduce falls. Classes are focused on improving balance and strength, home and environmental safety, vision, and a medication review. Research shows that Stepping On participants have a 31% reduced risk of falls. Cost: $10 total

Session 3: Wednesdays, July 12-August 23, 2:30-4:30pm at Riverview Heights Apts. in Janesville
Session 4: Fridays, August 11-September 22, 10:00am-Noon at St. Mary’s Hospital in Janesville
LIVING WELL WITH CHRONIC CONDITIONS is a six-week class that provides information and support to people with ongoing health problems such as arthritis, obesity, high blood pressure, heart disease, chronic pain, anxiety, and others. These highly participatory workshops build the participant’s confidence in their ability to manage their health and maintain active and fulfilling lives. Cost: $15 total
Session 1: Mondays, September 11-October 16, 1:00-3:30pm at the Council on Aging in Janesville
POWERFUL TOOLS FOR CAREGIVERS is a six-week class for caregivers designed to help them better cope with the challenges of caregiving. Participants will receive support and resources that will help make their caregiving journey easier. Cost: $10 total

LIGHTEN UP is an eight-week class that promotes quality of life and wellbeing in persons age 60 and older. The program is designed to help people manage their daily lives in more positive ways through techniques meant to process and understand the internal thoughts and barriers that influence daily decisions. Cost: FREE
Session 3: Mondays, September 11-October 30, 9:30-11:00am at Edgerton Public Library in Edgerton
Session 4: Wednesdays, October 4-November 22, 10:00-11:30am at the Fire Station in Clinton
HEALTHY EATING FOR SUCCESSFUL LIVING IN OLDER ADULTS is a six-week class designed to assist older adults in the self-management of their nutritional health. The focus of this program is to encourage participants to implement eating and activity behaviors that support heart and bone health. Cost: FREE
