Mediation Guidelines Summary |

Prior to the start of a mediation session, the mediator will review the MFCS Mediation Guidelines, which all participants must sign. The guidelines address state mandates and MFCS policies and procedures regarding:
- The purpose of mediation
- Behavior during mediation
- Safety
- Restraining Order/Domestic Abuse Injunction or No Contact Orders
- CPS involvement
- Issues not appropriate for mediation
- Confidentiality and exceptions
- Caucus
- Termination of mediation by a participant
- Declaration of impasse by the mediator
- Information provided to the court
- Drafting and review of Memorandum of Agreement (within 14 working days)
- Changes to Memorandum (within 15 days after receiving it)
- Communications with collateral professionals
- Mediator communications with attorneys
- Return policies/procedures
- Other proceedings during mediation
- Legal counsel
