Measles Update:

The CDC has reported an outbreak of measles in the United States. It is important to check your children's and your own immunization record to ensure two doses of the MMR vaccine has been administered. Measles is a highly contagious virus that can spread through coughing, sneezing, surfaces, or airspace. Those infected with measles can spread the rash to others four days before and four days after the rash appears.

 Schnucks Recalls Chef’s Express California Pasta Salad Because of Possible Health Risk

Schnuck Markets, Inc. of St. Louis, Mo. is recalling its Chef’s Express California Pasta Salad sold in its Deli/Chef’s Express departments April 2 – April 14, 2015 because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting in the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms, endocarditis and arthritis. Twin City Foods, Inc. of Stanwood, Washington is recalling the following products because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. Superior Foods, Inc., of Watsonville, CA is recalling 8,475 Cases Of Simply Balanced 10-oz Frozen Organic Chopped Spinach Distributed Exclusively At Target Stores.

Frontier Co-op Initiates Voluntary Class 1 Recall Due to Possible Health Risk from Organic Garlic Powder

Frontier Co-op is voluntarily recalling several of its products manufactured with organic garlic powder that were sold under its Frontier and Simply Organic brands, and one product sold under the Whole Foods Market brand due to potential Salmonella contamination.
