New Septic Systems
Septic Maintenance Program
Through our Septic Maintenance Program, the Rock County Health Department ensures all POWTS are properly installed, repaired, and maintained. This program requires your septic system to be inspected by a certified pumper every three (3) years. Every three (3) years, you will receive a notice via mail notifying you that your POWTS system is due for inspection.
Pumping your septic tank removes solids that build up overtime. Without routinely pumping your septic tank, solids will eventually travel out to your field lines causing your system to fail prematurely. Your system may not require pumping every three (3) years; this is up to the discretion of your certified pumper. However, your system must be inspected, signed off by the certified pumper, and returned to the Rock County Health Department with your $15.00 administrative fee.
Please call the Rock County Health Department at 608-757-5440 or 608-364-2010 for more information.
