Even in the best of situations, today’s generation of older adults are faced with challenges. They find themselves in a variety of roles; volunteer, employee, caregiver to parents and grandchildren.
In spite of profoundly rich lives, a wealth of life experience, and caring natures, older adults and their caregivers have special needs that cannot be ignored. These special needs require them to reach out for help.
Often the first call that is made to find help is to the Information & Assistance line. The Information & Assistance Specialist (I&A) can provide:
- Individual attention
- Information on services for older adults and caregivers
- Referral services
- Follow-up and assistance
- Advocacy and intervention
Who can call Information & Assistance?
If you are a Rock County resident, at least 60 years of age, you can access I&A services. If you need help in caring for an older relative, friend or neighbor, you are encouraged to call the I&A line.
There are no income or asset eligibility requirements. Information is something everyone needs.
How can the Information and Assistance Specialist help me?
The Information and Assistance Specialist provides individuals with current information about services, resources and programs that will assist people to experience old age with dignity and security. The I&A Specialist helps assess the needs of an individual. Organizations or services capable of meeting those needs will be identified. The I&A Specialist will help, if needed, make that link between an organization and the person in need.
