Rock County Mediation and Family Court Services (MFCS) provides three primary services to the citizens of Rock County:
These services are available to separated, divorced and never married parents who are in conflict concerning physical placement and legal custody.
-
“Physical Placement” addresses when the child is with each parent.
-
“Legal Custody” addresses issues of making decisions for the child.
-
Grandparent visitation.
-
To establish pathways of communication to share child related information between parents.
WI State Statute 767.405 mandates parents to mediation who do not live together and disagree on issues of legal custody (decisions) and physical placement (time). In Rock County, parties participate with a referral by an Order from the Court. Referrals from the Court follow a legal filing in Rock County for divorce, separation, or paternity action. Parents may volunteer for mediation.

Our staff includes the Director/Mediator, an Administrative Assistant and contractor mediators. All mediators have completed mediation training, had prior experience with families and additional studies in the developmental needs of children.
