Our Environmental Health Unit works to prevent environmental hazards in the air, water, soil, food, and everyday environments. Environmental health focuses on the relationship between people and their environment to prevent disease exposure and improve the conditions where people live, learn, work, and play.
Our Work in Action
We protect Rock County’s environment through routine inspections of restaurants and other licensed facilities, collecting unwanted prescription drugs, testing Rock County’s waterways and drinking water, and identifying home health hazards like radon and lead.
Impact on Rock County
The environment has significant impacts on health, and can increase risk of certain diseases, including communicable and chronic disease. Rock County’s environment presents various challenges, but our work helps assure all Rock County residents can safely enjoy their community, free of environmental health hazards.
