Welcome to the Rock County Planning, Economic and Community Development Agency. Our staff provide expertise and assistance for various planning and development issues in Rock County. We are overseen by the Planning and Development Committee, a team of five County Supervisors.
What does Rock County Planning do?
- Strategic and comprehensive planning
We create long-range plans at the county level to guide decisions and shape Rock County’s future, based on goals and concerns identified by the community.
- Zoning and development review
We administer Rock County ordinances related to zoning and land management through various services including development review, building permits, rural addresses, and land divisions. Rock County does not have countywide general zoning authority, but we provide zoning-related services on behalf of several Rock County towns.
- Economic development
We provide services and programs that position, as well as prepare, Rock County for development and investment opportunities.
- Housing and community development
We provide Rock County homeowners and homebuyers with assistance loans to help with home maintenance, rehabilitation, and down payment.
- Geospatial (mapping) services
We acquire, create and maintain geospatial data to conduct location-based analysis to create maps and visualization that will enhance decision-making, improve efficiency and provide information for Rock County, its stakeholders and residents.
- County surveyor
Our surveyor carries out state-mandated land survey duties for Rock County records and administration.
