Update 8/17/26: The Rock County Board of Supervisors adopted Preserve Rock 2025-2035: A 10-Year County Farmland Preservation Plan on August 13, 2026. Thank you to everyone who participated in the planning process and shared feedback along the way. The adopted plan will be posted here soon.

The plan will next be submitted to the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) for certification.

Drafting of the updated Comprehensive Plan, Renew Rock 2025-2045, is ongoing.

What is Planning?

"Planning" is an umbrella term for various forms of urban and regional planning. It's a wide-ranging, future-oriented field in which planners assess needs, anticipate challenges, and create long-term plans that help communities manage their physical, economic, and social resources. At Rock County Planning, we plan for these issues at the county level and provide support for planning efforts within the county's towns, villages, and cities.
