Disease Reporting

As a healthcare partner, you play an essential role in preventing the spread of communicable diseases.

Reportable diseases and conditions are considered to have significant public health impact, and any confirmed or suspected cases must be reported promptly. We provide guidance, education, follow-up, and surveillance for reportable diseases and conditions, as outlined in Wisconsin state statute and by the state health department:

Infection Prevention Consortium

The Rock County Infection Prevention Consortium is a group of local infection preventionists, nurses, and other practitioners from long-term care, acute care, and public health. The consortium aims to provide space for education, updates and resource sharing, networking, and peer-to-peer troubleshooting.

If you are interested in joining the Infection Prevention Consortium or if you would like more information, please contact Jennifer Weadge, Public Health Nurse, at jennifer.weadge@co.rock.wi.us.

For more information on infection prevention and control, please view the following resources:

Communicable Disease Quarterly Reports

Each quarter, Rock County Public Health releases a Communicable Disease Quarterly Report for healthcare providers. This report contains a summary of reportable diseases and conditions with incidence in Rock County, highlights relevant communicable disease topics, and relays important information to healthcare providers.

While these reports are available to everyone who visits this webpage, the content presented in these reports is intended for healthcare providers who have preexisting knowledge of reportable diseases and conditions. If you are not a healthcare provider and have questions or concerns about the data presented in these reports, please contact Rock County Public Health, and we will be happy to provide more information!

Local Health Alerts

When important communicable disease information needs to be distributed to healthcare providers, Rock County Public Health releases local health alerts as part of our Health Alert Network (HAN). These alerts are intended to provide local context only. Additional information may be gathered by subscribing to the Wisconsin HAN and/or the CDC's HAN.

Expedited Partner Therapy

In response to the high burden of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in Rock County, healthcare partners are encouraged to offer expedited partner therapy (EPT) for patients diagnosed with chlamydia, gonorrhea, and/or trichomoniasis. The practice of EPT is in accordance with 2009 Wisconsin Act 280, and the Rock County Board of Health adopted an EPT position statement in February 2025.

More information on Rock County position statements is available on our Public Health Policy Engagement webpage. If you’re a healthcare provider who is interested in learning more about EPT, please reach out here.
