WHAT IS PROJECT LIFESAVER?

Project Lifesaver provides timely response to save lives and reduce potential injury for adults and children who have Alzheimer’s, Autism, and any other circumstances they may have that creates a danger of them wandering off.

WHAT EQUIPMENT DOES MY LOVED ONE NEED?

Citizens enrolled in Project Lifesaver wear a small personal transmitter around the wrist or ankle that emits an unique tracking signal. If an enrolled client wanders off, the caregiver shall call the Rock County Communications Center at 608-757-2244 or 911.  The Rock County Sheriff's Office Project Lifesaver team is a trained response team that responds to the wanderer’s last known area. Most who wander are found within a few miles from home, and search times have been reduced from hours and days to minutes.  Please know the transmitter itself does not use a GPS signal.

HOW DO I APPLY IF MY FAMILY MEMBER IS NEED OF PROJECT LIFESAVER?

Family members can stop in at the Rock County Sheriff's Office Community Corrections entrance Monday through Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.  A staff member can provide the family members with an application and Project Lifesaver Program Contract.  The program is first come, first served.  However, if a potential client is referred to us that has a documented history (police report) of wandering, they will be given priority.   Please be aware a waiting list may occur based on the amount of transmitters we have.

IS THERE A COST?

The Rock County Sheriff's Office has a one time $25.00 set up fee once a client is placed onto Project Lifesaver.  There is an additional $10.00 per month fee for battery and equipment maintenance.  The fee is billed quarterly to the caretaker listed on the application.
