Rock County Public Health Department acts as an agent of the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS).
- RCPHD licenses and regulates tattoo artists and establishments, body piercers and body piercing establishments to protect public health and safety. Annual and complaint inspections are conducted to ensure clean environments and safe work practices for the body artists and clients.
- Body Art procedures can be a source of exposure to bloodborne pathogens such as Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B or HIV viruses. This can happen through needle sticks, cuts from sharp instruments and blood splash into the eyes, nose or mouth during routine activities: set-up, body art procedures, breakdown and clean up.
- There are 21 licensed body art facilities in Rock County.
